VINE - Victim Information and Notification Everyday

What is VINE?VINE Logo

A computerized notification system that provides information on the in-custody status of an arrestee held in the “Shelby County Jail”, to determine if the offender has been released, transferred or escaped from custody. Depending on how you registered, you will be notified by phone or email. You can also check the custody status of the offender at your convenience using the Internet, even without registering.

How does it work?

Anyone, a victim, a witness, an advocate, or a concerned party to a crime, can call toll free 1-877-590-8463 to determine the custody status of an arrestee in the Shelby County Jail.

There is no charge for this service.

You will be required to register and provide a PIN# and phone numbers if you call the toll free number.

When using the Internet, select the State and County and enter the offender’s first and last name to determine the custody status. You will be provided the current custody status of the offender in the “Shelby County Jail” and be given the opportunity to register to be notified if the offender’s custody status should change.

Who will know if you are using the VINE service?

No one, the system is designed to protect the victim’s and victim advocate’s privacy. The only information provided to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is the number of inquiries and notifications made by the system. Your personal information is confidential and protected by law.

Why does the SCSO use VINE?

To provide crime victims of offenders arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Memphis Police Department with the custody status of arrestees housed in the “Shelby County Jail” and as a tool to keep them safe and informed as related to the offender’s custody status. (Other municipal jails in Shelby County; Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown and Millington do not share custody information with the SCSO and are not included in the Shelby County VINE System.)
