Training Academy LogoThe fundamental mission of the Sheriff’s Office Training Academy is to provide professional training curriculums designed to improve the quality of regional law enforcement and correctional services. The Sheriff of Shelby County, the Director of Training and the staff provide practical application in all segments of basic, in-service and specialized training. All officers must attend a forty-hour basic Peace Officer Instructor Development School.

The curriculum has been certified and approved by the State of Tennessee Peace Officer Standard and Training Commission.
